Outfits under £100: how to build a complete look
A complete outfit for £100 or less is realistic when you’re clear about what it’s for, reuse what you own and spend where it counts. Here’s a method that works for any occasion.

Start with what the outfit is for
“An outfit under £100” is easier to plan as “a weekend outfit under £100 that works with the trainers I already have.” The occasion decides the dress level, and the dress level decides which pieces matter most.
Count only what you need to buy
Most budgets go further than expected because most outfits already have a starting point in your wardrobe: jeans, a coat or everyday shoes. List what you own that fits the occasion before shopping. Every piece you reuse leaves more of the £100 for the pieces that are missing.
Spend more on what you’ll wear most
Within the outfit, split the budget by how hard each piece works rather than evenly. One way to plan it:
| Piece | Share of the budget | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Shoes or outer layer | Largest share | Worn most often, and cheap versions wear out first |
| Trousers, jeans or skirt | Middle | Fit matters, and they’re worn with many tops |
| Top or knit | Smaller | Easy to find in good quality at lower prices |
| Accessories | What’s left, or reuse | Usually the easiest thing to borrow from your wardrobe |

The costs people forget
- Delivery. Several small orders from different shops can add a noticeable amount. Check thresholds before splitting an outfit across retailers.
- Returns. Some retailers charge for returns. If you’re between sizes, that cost belongs in the budget.
- Care. Dry-clean-only pieces cost more to keep wearing.
Prices change, so check the final price on the retailer’s site before you buy. Be wary of “was” prices you can’t verify.
How AuraTip handles a budget
Set a budget for the goal and AuraTip builds complete outfits within it, starting from what you own. Each outfit shows what you’d buy, the value of owned pieces you aren’t buying (that isn’t presented as “savings”), shipping where the retailer gives it, and how the total sits against your budget. Prices are labelled by where they came from, and AuraTip never shows a discount it can’t verify.
Shopping from the US? The same method works with a dollar budget. AuraTip shows each price in the retailer’s own currency, and never treats a converted price as the real price.
